the track “integration” was originally called, “urim and thummim” and was a compilation track and an e.p. in 2018. the title track, “lost languages,” features beautiful contributions from mark seelig, and was titled, “forgotten monuments in hidden places,” from my 2019 release, “magical thinking.” “through the lense of love” was originally included on my 2009 release, “because we were once covered in gold,” an unbelievable 13 years ago—in retrospect, this track anticipated some of my work in recent years. all tracks have been extended, re-visited, re-mastered and re-loved. this album is intended to be sort of a compendium or gathering together of tracks, tracks that felt related and also felt to be an appropriate summary of this time, which feels to me to be the end of one phase and the beginning of another. ADDENDUM: probably not coincidentally, the masters for all these updated tracks where subsequently lost, erased from the master disk due to a naming convention error. poof.
