Berkdrums One of Steve’s best in my humble opinion... man..., talking about music that triggers the soul in a spiritual and cleansing manner...! I said it before, and on this album it seems to be even more so: Steve’s sound-paintings are DEEP, and you’ll be taken on this wonderful journey that to me a great ambient-work should do... And what a joy to hear that ‘Near Glow’ will be released soon as a full-album (on CD as well!)... can’t wait for that one. Meanwhile on ‘Translucent’ to me Steve shows again that he deserves to be among the biggest ambient-maestro’s of this world.... Can’t pick a favourite track though... the album in its entirety is so coherent! Near Completion is another highpoint for me and a beautiful ending of this masterwork! Thanks again Steve!

<=> The "Near" series is a new high water mark for Steve for me. The beauty and serenity of tones and colors are profoundly rich... Find a quite place and enjoy...

“near series : threshold” is the third and final of three volumes of the “near series.” the very core of the “near series,” is essentially improvisational in nature, with major elements being recorded for, and during, live performances in 2015 and 2016. improvisational moments were captured and then subsequently woven together in a more deliberate and compositional manner. all compositions brand. design and photography brand. thanks to geoff small/åpne sinn for his sublimely atmospheric contribution on “near completion.” a threshold implies a boundary, a limit, a transition, a doorway from one place to another, from something old, to something new, from a previous way of being, to a new and evolved presence—in other words, graduation.
